Hello!
I'm Carina!
My work is inspired by stories, the abundance of nature, people, and the plurality of cultures and communities around the world.
Reflecting my inner exploration that began with yoga in 2010, my purpose is to bring to light and materialize, through films and images, the invisible that dwells in the subtext of stories.
I began my journey in film industry in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Studies from the SENAC University Center, which led to my first internship at the Brazilian Cinematheque's video lab. There, I was able to work with different titles from Brazilian cinema, various media formats, and professionals in the field.
In 2012, I produced, co-directed, and edited my first feature-length documentary, BRINDA.DOC, filmed in New Delhi, India, which chronicles the creation process of the urban art project "Brinda," conceived by Brazilian artist and muralist Sérgio Cordeiro and co-created with Indian artist Harsh Raman.
The project was selected for two international festivals, including the Mumbai Women's International Film Festival and the New Delhi Women's Director International Film Festival.
In 2016, I founded the production company Violeta Imagens, which carried out institutional projects and documentaries, acting as executive producer, director, and director of photography; I participated in several musical projects and collaborated on a wide variety of films, commercials, and series as a camera assistant for channels such as Netflix, GNT, Amazon Prime, Globo, independent production companies, among others, which gave me a broad vision not only of the market but also of project and team management.
Currently, I work on documentary projects around Brazil and the world through the production company Imagem Ritual and others, as a director and photographer on projects focused on social impact, solidarity economy, fair trade, and indigenous causes; in addition to actively working in the freelance audiovisual market as a director of photography, camera operator, and first camera assistant on series, documentaries, short and feature films, and commercials.
